Are there conditions attached to gratuity?
I worked for a big organisation and one of the conditions given for payment of gratuity was that I obtain at least three subjects in the Advanced Diploma in Insurance (ACII) under CII in UK. I did completed my term of the contract but did not have the 3 subjects and have not been paid my gratuity. What should I do? From Zambia.
If you signed an agreement or merely agreed verbally to the conditions and those conditions stipulated that you gain the diplomas then the company are within their rights to withhold the gratuity as you have not complied with the agreement. Attendance at a course is not the equivalent of getting the final paperwork - the diploma.
It's a cruel world.
